Hello this week from Sonali Kohli, URL Media's Senior Recruiter.
Thanks to those of you who joined us last week for the latest installment of our Let's Talk Careers: The What's Next Webinar. As layoffs and career transitions continue to impact across industries, we're rounding out the series with a fourth, free webinar on Friday, April 28 at noon ET.

Until the next session, here are some takeaways from the speakers of last week's webinar:
Build Your Network: Career and leadership coach Phoebe Gavin advised attendees to break down networking activities into micro tasks. For example, send one email a week to a different person you know to catch up, ask how they're doing and fill them in on your recent work, she said. That's a task you can incorporate into your routine, and it's not overwhelming β but it does add up to 52 connections. She also reminded us that LinkedIn is a vital tool for your networking and job search!
Interview Prep: Leonor Ayala Polley, URL Media's Chief of Business Development and Partnerships, and I led a breakout room on preparing for job interviews. My advice is to do something that puts you in a good headspace ahead of an interview, because you can't talk about yourself in the best light unless you are feeling good about yourself. And always send a follow-up email thanking people for taking the time to talk to you. Also, of course, prepare: have your application materials in front of you to reference, and have notes with points you'd like to hit in the conversation.
Maintaining Wellness: Journalist and mental wellness coach Leslie Rangel, shared both mindset work and actionable advice to maintain your wellbeing during a job search, a time that can be difficult and discouraging. If you're experiencing rejection, remember that "itβs ok to feel the emotions," she said. If you're feeling imposter syndrome, keep a daily success journal, she said β document 5-10 wins big and small.
If your mind is stuck in the βwaiting doom pit,β Leslie said, "maybe itβs time to take a short break from searching. Take the next 24-48 hours to do something for you!"
The April 28 webinar will feature breakout rooms for small-group conversations with experts on topics including:
- Preparing for job interviews and informational conversations
- Why networking is now more important than your resume.
- Maximizing your LinkedIn presence
