Ron has close to a decade of experience in tech recruiting and career coaching, including roles at Amazon and Meta. He shared with us his insights on the current recruiting landscape:

What pieces of your identity do you bring to URL Media?
 Energy, love, compassion, and starting with people’s needs first and working backwards. My mentality when coming into any organization is: “how can I help?” When you’re partnering with others, considering their point of view, and thinking with them in mind, very rarely will you misstep. But if you do happen to, the grace and rapport will be there to navigate any challenge.

What trends are you seeing among candidates of color as they try to navigate work?
Candidates of color are becoming more of a commodity. It’s both bad and good. What’s good about this is that organizations are realizing that having diversity of thought and representation is vital to making the best decision to serve their constituents. What’s bad is the obvious. People of color are not a metric, goal, or a KPI. We’re people. Simply put. Living the human experience.
What's your one piece of advice for a manager who wants to hire with an eye toward diversifying the workplace?
Everything I've mentioned thus far in the previous two replies! ALWAYS start with people and work backwards. Be honest about your team and its culture. Strive to close gaps in inequity and yearn to provide opportunity for all people.
