Podcast Power: Damian Barr's Literary Salon

How Damian Barr enhances book culture through podcasting

Damian Barr's Literary Salon honors and celebrates the tradition of creative minds coming together to discuss all aspects of their craft. It is "where the world’s best writers share new books and reveal their own personal stories. It’s where readers and writers meet through special live events and online content including revealing interviews, must-listen podcasts [and] brand-new stories."

Barr doesn't do it alone. "From 2021 [he] is joined by Guest Hosts including Sara Collins, Alexandra Heminsley, Sam Baker, Anthony Anaxagorou and Sathnam Sanghera."
From Barr:

"The people who trust me to interview them often tell me things they haven’t told anybody else. They can tell I’ve done my research and they feel safe and respected - whether that’s on radio, on stage or in print. Sometimes it’s about asking the questions the audience really want to hear but really it’s about listening - really listening. Then responding honestly. Whoever I’m in conversation with. Whatever the outlet or platform."

The reputation and reach of the Salon continue to grow:

"Our podcast features over 180 in-depth interviews ranging from emerging stars to established names including works-in-progress and world premieres. Starring: Diana Athill, Jojo Moyes, Tracey Thorn, Okechukwu Nzelu, John Waters, David Mitchell, Yaa Gyasi, Maggie O’Farrell, A M Homes, Garth Greenwell, Mary Beard, Natalie Haynes, David Nicholls, Armistead Maupin and many more…"
